### Day 1: Yongqingfang – Sacred Heart Cathedral – Shamian – Canton Tower – Pearl River Night Cruise

**Standard plan (about 10,000 steps, start 09:00, highest point 450 m, sleeping altitude 20 m)**

Morning walk through Yongqingfang (grey-brick houses, wooden doors, Manchu windows, Bruce Lee's ancestral home), then Sacred Heart Cathedral (about 1 hour). After lunch, Shamian Island's colonial buildings and old trees. Late afternoon up Canton Tower's Baiyun Starlight deck, then board at Dashatou Pier for the Pearl River night cruise.

- **Stairs:** a few steps at the cathedral entrance; lifts up and down Canton Tower
- **Travel:** about 1.5–2 h in total — Yongqingfang → cathedral ~15 min, → Shamian ~10 min, → Canton Tower ~25 min, → Dashatou Pier ~20 min
- **Rest:** 30–45 min tea break in Yongqingfang or Shamian in the afternoon; another short rest near the pier before the cruise
- **Meals:** not included – meals are at your own arrangement
- **Kids:** the Canton Tower deck and the night cruise are the highlights for children; Shamian is pram-friendly, Yongqingfang's lanes are narrow

Start later and keep Yongqingfang to the main lane with a sit-down at a tea house; view the cathedral from outside and rest nearby; slow flat walk on Shamian; lift straight up to the Canton Tower deck; seated sightseeing on the cruise boat.

- **Stairs:** almost none – lifts at the cathedral and Canton Tower, flat ground on Shamian
- **Travel:** same route, about 1.5–2 h in total; no single ride over 30 min, the car waits nearby for rests
- **Sleep:** Guangzhou – the day tour ends in the evening and no hotel is included

## Meals & local food

- A late snack near Dashatou Pier before or after the cruise

Tips from the route: dim sum is best before 11:00, and teahouses around Yongqingfang and Shangxiajiu get busy at weekends. Have dinner early so you reach the pier in time for the cruise departure.
