# Wulong

Wulong, in southeastern Chongqing, became part of the South China Karst World Heritage Site in 2007. Huge natural stone bridges, a narrow fissure gorge and high grassland around Xiannüshan Town make it the region's great nature escape.

## Getting around

- The drive from central Chongqing takes about three hours, and bullet trains also run to Wulong.
- Scenic shuttle buses link the Xiannüshan Town tourist centre with the Three Natural Bridges and Longshuixia Fissure, which are less than 1 km apart.
- Furong Cave is on its own near Jiangkou Town, about 26 km from the bridges, so it needs separate time.

## When to go

- Spring and autumn are mild and green.
- Summer is cool up on Xiannüshan, and winter can bring snow.

Scenic areas use real-name booking in advance. Bring your original passport.

## Sights

### Three Natural Bridges

Three limestone arches — Tianlong, Qinglong and Heilong — span the Yangshui River gorge at heights of 223 to 281 metres, among the largest natural bridges in any limestone karst. A sightseeing lift takes you down to the gorge floor; allow three to five hours.

- **Walking:** Moderate — a paved loop with stairs and slopes, then about 1 km uphill to the exit (a shuttle cart is available).

### Longshuixia Fissure

Less than 1 km from the Three Natural Bridges and reached by the same scenic shuttle buses. Its stone steps are steep and slippery, with narrow plank walkways, so wear shoes with good grip and take your time.

### Furong Cave

On its own near Jiangkou Town, about 26 km from the bridges, so it needs separate time in your plan.

## Good to know

- Each scenic area runs on real-name advance booking, and tickets are sold separately. Carry your original passport, as it is your ID at every gate.
- Longshuixia's stone steps are steep and slippery, with narrow plank walkways. Wear shoes with good grip and take your time.
- Xiannüshan is much cooler than downtown Chongqing, and the gap grows when it rains. Pack an extra layer, even in summer.
